Guns on The Table
The Orlando Pulse shooting on June 12th 2016 started the trend. This was considered the most deadly mass shooting in not only the LGBT community but on record as well. Fast forward to upward of 5 other accounts of mass shootings affecting the nation since. Many Texans will argue with Liberals that they are taking guns away from the hands that purchased them. When in fact that is not the case. Granted, there have been proposals to ban guns altogether. Many of gun owning Texans have thought that an issue like shootings would never come to Texas. If it ever did they would be ready with their guns blazing. When a small church in Sutherland Springs was the target of a Mass shooting.
Texas is in the middle of fighting over and debating on a new reform to bring gun control. Where Texans stand on obtaining guns according to Justin Sparks, a firearms program attorney, "“Generally speaking, in Texas, as long as you’re of age [18] and can pass the background check, you can buy a gun,” Sparks told Fox News. Sparks also added that there is no special licence to purchase a gun in Texas
The point of the matter is that safety is an issue, and also not enough thought is being put into how it can be done regarding guns. Guns can help save people and protect people as well, but they can also hurt and kill people. Many can argue that "Guns don't kill people, People kill people". True.... but, people use guns to kill people. It has to come a point that our politicians need to stop thinking of guns as a form of income and more about the human beings that it affects. Instead of seeing everything in black and white or red and blue maybe see everything that has capabilities of living from preventable measures. It is becoming a repeat event that not only Texans, but our nation is getting numb too.
